Late August
On a hot evening, I grabbed my tools and lined up the paint and mediums and ended up with this work. I used some of the same mediums I have in other works, such as glass beads, but I included one I haven’t used in any of my works: snow flakes. It is like using a thick pudding that looks like snow flakes. You can see the white flakes in the darker colors toward the bottom of the picture. This is a small painting, only 11×14. I find myself packing more into small spaces lately.

I like your art work, is so artistic !
Trish, As I am looking at this painting, I feel the steamy heat of a hot, humid day.
It has been pretty hot here in Santa Monica during this last month …
This looks great! I love the thick application of paint.
Thank you … I love to use a lot of paint (-;
Compelling work, and such stunning variety (looking at everything from the pairs to the studies to the nature abstracts). I am very drawn to nature abstracts, and your work represents well online. I’d love to see them in person – do you show in the Bay Area at all? Are you rep’d by a gallery down south?
Thank you… I relocated recently and don’t have a gallery representing me currently, but I am looking around LA for one. I can arrange a private showing.
I nominated you for a Sunshsine Award. Congratulations. Enjoy the award and picking out your favorite sites. Come visit my site to pick up your award. http://tchistorygal.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/a-lovely-blog-award/

I find this work of yours truly powerful. It strikes me like a storm or something very strong is underway. I have a quick question for you. How long does it take for you to make a piece like this? The post says you sat down on an evening and ended up with this work. It’s so complex and wonderful that I can barely believe it’s possible to come up with this in one day! I’m not a connaisseur in painting either, so I think I’ll learn a lot from your blog, but isn’t it necessary to let the paint dry after each application of a different color? Or by not waiting you aim to reduce definition of each color and bring in swirls? Cheers, Trish!
This painting took two and a half weeks from start to finish. There’s a base layer that I let dry completely, then a wet layer of mediums, followed by a layer of color. After I place the layer of color, I use a tool to blend and shape it. In this one, I was able to complete that layer in one day. The last layer is a finish that makes the color richer and protects the painting. My work is 3D… you can touch it. So there’s a visual and tactile experience…you can’t get the tactile experience from the web site.
Thanks for explaining, Trish. I admire how much patience and dedication you have for your craft. It truly is a labour of love. I hope I get to see one of the actual pieces for real one day so I can appreciate that 3D aspect. Until I come back to North America, I’ll keep admiring your work through my screen. Cheers!
How long are you going to be in India? I haven’t been yet, but would like to go there.
Well for now my visa is until May, so that’s the plan – Inch’Allah as they sometimes say here (God willing).
